Crowdsourcing [Shudder]

Attention all friends and readers, but especially composers, performers, and electronic musicians among you: a friend of mine asked me, the other day, if I had any bright ideas for an iPhone app he and his techie friends should get to work on. I know lot of you work seriously with live electronics, compose at the computer, etc. Is there anything you wish your iPhone would do?

YES! There needs to be an app for super simplified, reliable playback of audio tracks in live performance settings. An anti-iPod player with barebones playback functionality that is easy to control under pressure.

The app would allow you to pick an audio track (or set up a queue of tracks), and be faced with a super minimal control screen with LARGE buttons. A huge play button and manageable volume control on opposite ends of the screen so you know you won't accidently hit stop and ruin a piece.

No worry about some random shuffle setting that makes the thing launch into your n.w.a. discography at the end of some piece for solo flute and electronics.

You should definitely talk to @nadiasirota about this - she has great ideas for features and is the one that originally thought of it.

I bet a 12-tone row chart generating app would sell well to the music theory student crowd.
